A ROOM IN A ROOM
To visionary explore spatiality from children’s needs and ideas. Create a physical space and build in full scale using technical construction and textile. Budget: 35 dollars A two-week-long project where we worked together with 10-year old children. We let the children discover spatiality on their own by building their rooms inspired by the words; calm, adventurous, secret, different, and happy. The children’s favorite room was the “secret” room, and based on that, we created their secret space in full scale. The room hangs approximately 40 cm above the ground, which allows the curiosity of children to find the secret room on their own. Adults, on the other hand, are more likely to pass the room on the outside simply. The room is designed to feel more spacious from the inside, accomplished by the room’s shape, with the lighter color on the inside and the darker color on the outside.
